OT: Managing Windows machine on a "sun" network

I have a predicament i was hoping ya'll could help solve.
We have sun machines running Solaris 8 on all most everyone's machine
here, there are a few Windows based machines, most running Windows 2000
that i would like to be able to install patches on etc from my machine.
Is there an way way to do this without installing Windows 2000 "server"
and then something on top of that like "citrix metaframe"
I typically need to be able to install patches as they get available,
maybe install some software.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
