Load Average & number of process.

Is there any way to find out what is causing the load average to
increase on the server. Please see the below output which
shows high load
average for same number of users .
process is also same as per user.
Eventhough prstat -a is giving some indication as to who is
utilising the
resource.But it is not clear. B it shows only
% utilitsation for the each
user.
2:20pm up 6 day(s), 8:08, 2774 users, load average: 45.98, 42.48,
45.47
12:05pm up 6 day(s), 5:53, 2729 users, load average: 253.47,
254.45, 219.1
If someone experienced in performance troubleshooting please
help.
