Looking for a reader-talker package

2007-12-25 12:00:00

About 2 weeks and several sleepless nights ago, I asked for help in

locating a "reader-talker" package for Solaris. (The sleepless nights

were not caused by this software).

Suggestions came in from a dozen or so folks and were greatly

appreciated.

The most suitable idea for my application was to record the messages

as .au files and play them back using /usr/bin/audioplay.

I've included all the messages I received.

Much thanks and Happy New Year to all who read this list.

Special thanks to those who took the time to respond.

Have you come across a package called "say"? If not, take a look at:

Robin Marquis suggested speak and gave the following pointer

WASSER%VIKING.DEC@decwrl.ARPA

but it is dated back in 85

Thanks again
