Telnet to a Serial Port

good ones, but the solution was relatively simple. First, there's no
need to mess with any eeprom settings, the defaults for "ttya-ignore-cd=true"
do just fine. All that was required was to 1) wire the DB25 to RJ45
to the DTE pin outs (which I had) and 2) access the serial port manager
from "admintool", use the "hardwired" template and select "Software
Carrier" as an option (which I didn't). That's it... Pretty simple
