boot problem

We have one E250 under Solaris 2.5.1 with two ethernet cards.
One 10 MB card (interface le0) is the " real " card to the local lan, the other 100 MB in Half Duplex mode (interface hme0) is to a net we use for the backup.
When we boot the system, It failed. For a success boot, I must rename the file /etc/hostname.hme0 before rebooting.
After, I need to plumb and reconfigure the hme0 card again.
My question: Why the server don' t want to boot with the 2 cards. (The defaultroute is good).
