question about pops and mozilla 1.2.1 from sun

i'm using mozilla 1.2.1 from sun.
We have pops on our mail server, with unofficial certificate (we have no authority sign).
When i try to get my mail, mozilla says:
"Could not establish an encrypted connection because certificate presented by mailserver is invalid or corrupted"
Is it possible to force mozilla to accept my certificate?
Others mail clients seems to accept this certificate (i.e. apple mail, ...)
