NIS on Solaris 2.8 propogating root password?

can't seem to locate an answer anywhere. Specifically, I'm running Solaris
2.8 as an NIS master, and I'm used to selectively including (or excluding)
certain accounts from the NIS maps (e.g. root, daemon, etc.). However, I
can't seem to find an appropriate way to do this under Solaris 2.8. I did
notice mention of some compatibility mode which may or may not be supported
in future releases; this seems, then, to be an inappropriate solution. Is
there a simple way to do this that I'm simply overlooking? I know, for
example, that BSD's will allow one to simply add a '-' before an account you
don't want propogated throughout your entire network.
Thanks,
Damon
