can't start Solaris Management Console
2007-12-25 1:23:00
I am running Solaris 5.8 on a netra t1, I am using vncserver as my display, but when in vnc I try to start Solaris Management Console 2.0, it pop's up and begins to load all it's components but when it comes to "initializing Console..." it stops. I get no error, or I can't find the error anywhere. I have tried starting it from the command line typing smc, and from menu. I found some docs online and my SMC Server was not up so I tried the following:
bash-2.03# /etc/init.d/init.wbem status
SMC server not running on port 898.
bash-2.03# /etc/init.d/init.wbem start
bind: Address already in use
the port is in use?
bash-2.03# netstat -a | grep 898
*.898 *.* 0 0 24576 0 LISTEN
does anyone know why I am getting a port in already in use? is there a way to stop this port from listening and listen to my smc?
thanx...
