mail client configuration in S8

I have to configure the email sending in Solaris8, to
enable the users to send mails from scripts running on
the local host via a remote SMTP server to the
Internet.
How can I do this, please?
So, there is a running SMTP server on the LAN and
all of I need to setup is to forward all of the mails
to that host.
They're using mail and mailx to send these emails
from their scripts.

Unfortunately we have to use the standard tools, so
we're not allowed to install postfix, pine or any
other things.
