Well, I only got one response but it was RIGHT ON THE MONEY!

Thanks to Rogerio, everything is working fine. I love how SUN doesn't

document everything...it must be a great skill to have. :-) ;-)

At the beginning of our NIS+ (w/ Solaris 2.1) we had problems with

part of the commands and found out that the sequence of commands like

this one ,

> /usr/lib/nis/nisping `nisdefaults -d`

> /usr/lib/nis/nisping org_dir.`nisdefaults -d`

> /usr/lib/nis/nisping groups_dir.`nisdefaults -d`

should be treated carefully , that is "check that one

command has already finished , before starting the next one".

One way to check is looking , via Snoop , at the NIS traffic ,

in our case Master to replica.

The above caution , which is written nowhere , was not obvious, even

to the SUN SW eng. that was installing it (or was it re-installing) ,

and was a last attempt after some nonsucessfull ones (2 to 4?), so

it ended up beeing a "feature not documented"
