mail tool problem

2007-12-25 8:28:00

Hi Netters!

Well, I posted last Friday a question on the mail tool (see original

post below) and mentioned how easy the solution would be to find. It

was. Almost all of the respondees said "Well, Dummy, has the

user clicked on "done" in the mail tool?". This was, of course,

the problem. The user was just closing the mail tool, then logging out.

This does not update the mail folder. Clicking on the "done" button,

updates any changes.

As always, I appreciate the time and effort of those who responded.

There were so many, I will not list them here. I am always impressed

with the quality of the knowledge on this net, and the willingness

of the members to share it. So thanks.....

By the way, the user is being tied to an ant hill tomorrow for not knowing

of this, and I will be staked out early next week for not being aware

of the answer as well. Refreshments will be served....

Hi Netters!

Fridays are for easy problems, right? Not the system crashing ones,

but the annoying ones that we want to fix when we have time. Here is

one for you...

A user is getting "new" mail messages EVERYTIME he logs on. The messages

are actually old ones - ones that have already been read. He deletes them

(using the delete button in the mail tool), yet when he logs on again, they

are back. Configuration is a 630MP, serving about 40 Sparc systems, running

4.1.1 to 4.1.3.

Has anyone seen (and fixed, of course) this?

Thanks for your time. I will summarize....
