PARTIAL SUMMARY - What is file /dev/nrst9 ?

The first problem was relativly simple, I'll quote Tim as he was the first to reply:-

Someone made a typo in doing a backup and directed it to "/dev/nrst9:-"

instead of "/dev/nrst9". The backup was directed to this file,

rather than to the tape drive represented by the correct devname.

You can remove it. Be careful with future backups. If you're using

a backup script, check it to make sure the typo isn't in the script.

The second problem I've had a couple of suggestions for
