Problem in L9 Autoloader connecting to Sun Enterprise E420R

2007-12-25 2:18:00

Dear All,

I receive lots of reply regarding my problems. Very appreciate your
quick reply. Based on the reply, it should be the problem of the
incompatibilities of L9 loader SCSI with e-420R on-board SCSI card, one
is differential SCSI, and one is HVDS.

But I just checked the back of the L9, it has four SCSI port, two of
them are HVDS, and another two are differentials. The two HVDS are
connected by a short cable. And on one differential port, it is a SCSI
connector without cable out and it should be a terminator. Another
differential port is used to connect to host.

My question is that can I use one HVDS port to connect the host HVDS
adapter on e-420R? In that way, I may put the SCSI terminator on another
HVDS port. And for the two differential ports, I may also need to
connect them together by the short cable.

Thanks very much
Noah

Subject: Problem in L9 Autoloader connecting to Sun Enterprise E420R

Dear All,

We have one E420R server with two StorEdge A1000 RAID. And we want to
connect a StorEdge L9 tape loader to the host. But SCSI connector of the
cable provided by L9 like this, one side is 68pin wide, another is 68pin
narrow. The wide connector is connected to L9, and narrow connector is
connected to host.

And E-420R itself have a 68pin wide SCSI port(femal). And when we use a
cable with both 68pin wide connectors to connect L9 to E420, we cannot
see the L9 when probe-scsi-all. Does the two type of cable or connectors
compatible? Or we must install another SCSI adapter with 68pin narrow
port on the host and use L9 own cable to connect?

Thanks very much
