nmap in Solaris 10 zone

I need to test a network connection on a particular port between two
containers that are separated by two firewalls.
I've installed nmap in global and non-global zone, but when I try to run
it from within a zone it fails with the error
getinterfaces: Failed to open ethernet interface (e1000g0).
This makes sense since the interface is managed by the global zone, but
has anyone manage to use nmap from within a zone?
