Making slave servers for nis

2007-12-25 7:58:00

The answer to using a ypset command was to use:

ypbind -ypset

to allow ypset to occur.

Some more questions:

        1) I don't recall having to do this on SunOS 4.0.1 -- is this new?

        2) If a ypserver your bound to goes down, does ypbind switch

automatically to new servers?

It seems reasonable to just startup all the ypbinds with the -ypset option...

NIS basically isn't secure...I think the security concerns are misguided...
