Problem mounting a cd-rom
2007-12-24 20:32:00
I'm having problems mounting an external cdrom drive on a Sparcstation 10.
I've dropped down to the PROM-monitor and used probe-scsi to get details of
the devices and found the 2 disks I know are there and also the cd-rom so I
guess connections etc are fine.
Target 1 Unit 0 - Seagate Disk
Target 3 Unit 0 - Conner Disk
Target 6 Unit 0 - Removable Toshiba (presume the cdrom)
Back into the SunOS(5.5), I've looked at /dev/dsk and the details for each
disk are there :-
c0t1d0s0 c0t1d0s3 c0t1d0s6 c0t3d0s1 c0t3d0s4 c0t3d0s7 c0t6d0s2
c0t6d0s5
c0t1d0s1 c0t1d0s4 c0t1d0s7 c0t3d0s2 c0t3d0s5 c0t6d0s0 c0t6d0s3
c0t6d0s6
c0t1d0s2 c0t1d0s5 c0t3d0s0 c0t3d0s3 c0t3d0s6 c0t6d0s1 c0t6d0s4
c0t6d0s7
I'm trying to mount the cdrom and get an error :-
#mount /dev/dsk/c0t6d0s7 /cdrom
or
#mount -rF hsfs /dev/dsk/c0t6d0s7 /cd_rom
mount: /dev/dsk/c0t6d0s7 is already mounted, /cdrom is busy,
or the allowable number of mount points has been exceeded
#prtvtoc /dev/dsk/c0t6d0s7
prtvtoc: /dev/rdsk/c0t6d0s7: Device busy
# fuser /dev/dsk/c0t6d0s7
/dev/dsk/c0t6d0s7:
#df -k :-
Filesystem kbytes used avail capacity Mounted on
/dev/dsk/c0t3d0s0 440422 367620 28762 93% /
/proc 0 0 0 0% /proc
fd 0 0 0 0% /dev/fd
/dev/dsk/c0t1d0s7 963662 671903 195399 78% /export/home
swap 49120 168 48952 1% /tmp
The cdrom isnt mounted, the device files appear to be there and appear to be
'busy', though no-one is using them?!
There is no reference to /cdrom in /etc/vfstab or /etc/mnttab. The cd-rom
itself wont eject physically but this is normal on HP-UX if the cdrom is
mounted, so I guess that is ok...?
Is there something I can do to flush/restore the device settings for the
cd-rom or confirm that the OS can actually 'see' it?
Thanks all
Neal.
