Solaris 2.x and MS Windows Printing

Thanks to all who responded. Below find a summary of the information

provided:

Apparently, this is a problem similar to the nonfunctioning lpr in

Windows NT v3.51 (see Windows NT v3.51 Install Release Notes). SUN

has created a BUG-ID of 1245408 regarding this problem.

One solution suggested was SolarNet Lan Manager v2.0. Another was

SAMBA. I opted for SAMBA because I have previous experience with

it on the linux platform and it took me less than 20 minutes to

find on the net this morning.

I successfully compiled, installed, configured, and tested SAMBA in

less than 3 hours (a very small amount of time compared to the

time spent analyzing the problem and trying to write filters to

solve it). I'm happy to report that all my Solaris based

print servers are now accepting Postscript from PC's running

Windows for Workgroups.
