Migrating Sparc II to Opteron

Has anyone migrated a database from a 'legacy' Sun box to a new Opteron?
In particular, I am interested of the following.
A non-direct comparison between an e4500 and a v40z (Sun Opteron), shows
that a 4CPU v40z might actually be 3x quicker then a 10CPU e4500. (I can
send you details of my non-scientific comparison, if you'd like). Has
anyone seen any performance increase in migrating to fewer CPUs? (FYI, not
evaluating 4cpu xeons b/c of architecture limitations on multi-cpu
machines).
Has anyone used Sun Arrays (A5200 in our case) in a linux environment
problem free? We don't really want to upgrade storage, if we don't have
to, as fibre arrays will probably run more $ then Opterons.
I am meeting w/ Sun tomorrow to discuss compatibility issues
tomorrow. We'll summarize once I have a clear picture.
