man page problem on Solaris 2.1

Hopefully, this is a quick one. I am running 2.1 on a Sparc10. When I try to use the man pages, I get the following message:
Reformatting page. Wait...
nroff: Cannot create temp file.
done
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I will summarize.
I have received many responses and they all point to either:
1) /tmp partition is full
2) permissions on /tmp are incorrect. change perms to be wide open.
