RAM interleaving and peformance?

We plan to add more RAM to E450. The RAM we have on E450 is 8X128MB. Their
still have 8 slots empty. I plan to put 8X 256Mb RAM, but document say mix
different RAM can NOT interleaving. Can anyone tell me what kind of
performance hit with/without interleaving?
