problem using format

I have got Sun 8 on an Intel box.Now, the prblem is
that whenever i go for format,I get the following
output.
AVAILABLE DISK SELECTIONS:
0. c0d0 <drive type unknown>
/pci at 0,0/pci-ide at 14,1/ide at 0/cmdk at 0,0
Specify disk (enter its number):
When I enter 0 here, I get
Warning: Current Disk has mounted partitions.
AVAILABLE DRIVE TYPES:
0.other
Specify disk (enter its number):
Again if I enter 0 here,it goes to
Enter number of data cylinders:
Kindly suggest something,I m unable to find what is
wrong.
