# SOLUTION

############

Summary of most respones,

Apparently, my settings seem to be right. Although I tried almost all

the possible combination of different settings (baud rate, parity, flow

control, etc....), nothing seems to work. I will have to bring this

sucka to work and attach a sun monitor to it to check it out. As far as

the cable being null cable, it is because I checked it with an eletrical

meter and pins 2 and 3 are reversed, as they should be.

It is probably something to do with the fact that the serial port on the

SS10 is labeled A/B (there is only one physical DB-25 connector labeled

A/B). I will have to see that the output is actually going out to

ttya. I will update later.

Thanks!

# ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

#####################

Hi!

I am new to the sun world, and thus I got myself a used ss10. I have no

monitor for it, nor a keyboard or a mouse. I am trying to connect my nt

box to it through a null modem cable. I plug the 25-pin end into the

ss10, and the db-9 end into the nt box, on COM1. Then I use SecureCRT

to connect to COM1 (I also tried Hyperterminal). The following are the

settings for COM1:

Baud: 9600

Data Bits: 8

Parity: None

Stop Bits: 1

Flow Control: RTS/CTS (default value)

When I try to connect, it seems to connect but doesn't display anything

in the window. I have tried different combinations of those paramaters,

but obviously I have not gotten it yet. Would anyone please assist me

in this (probably) simple problem. I would greatly appreciate it. And

of course I will summarize, with the Original Question!

What am I doing wrong?
