L20 drive going down interminently.

Having a L20 tape library connected to E3500 server. Backup is taken through Netbackup 3.45 installed on the E3500 server. Tape library has the following configuration:-
2 drives :- E36R firmware
Library firmware:- 1.55S
But since last few days one of the drive is going down interminently. Then the drive has to be manually brought up but only after stopping and starting the netbackup deamons.
Also after upgrading the drive firmware from 1.33S to 1.55S , the backup has become slow.
