L40 Tape Library

I am getting hard errors in my tape library (Sun L40 Tape Library with
2 DLT8000 drives):
HARD ERROR: Failed to unload tape from drive. Failed to detect that the
transport has a tape.
HARD ERROR: Failed move from drive 2 to storage slot 15
Suggestions: Clear Tape Page and power cycle tape library.
Can anyone describe how to "clear the tape path"? Does that mean remove
the drive and manually remove the tape? I have power cycled numerous
times and done a "recalibrate library" test. Note that the library also
failed the wellness test (when trying to unload).
Anyone got any ideas? I have rung Sun and logged a call but I'm hoping
to have this fixed asap so if I can fix it myself that would be good.
