Genericstable feature does not appear to be working

2007-12-24 23:41:00

OS: Solaris 7
Application: Sendmail 8.12.6

Issue: The genericstable feature for address re-writing does not appear to
be functioning properly.

Symptoms: A sender can send to the virtual hosted id, as an example we'll
say guru at answerunix.net that's hosted on a server called postoffice in the
na.post.net domain. The issue arises when the virtual hosted id,
guru at answerunix.net, tries to send. The mail arrives as the UNIX account id
associated with the virtual hosted id in the form of
user01 at postoffice.na.post.net. The machine and domain names are sent
instead of the preferred address of guru at answerunix.

Has anyone been able to get this feature of sendmail functioning properly.
Any feedback would be appreciated. I will summarize. Thanks id advance!

The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a
capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety
labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
