labelling disks with jumpstart

I'm using a jumpstart server to build disks for sun CP2040 cards.
As it's a card in a chassis, the disks are non sun standard and don't have a
label on them.

Is there anyway from a script to label disk?
I've tried playing with format command but format behaves differently with
un-labelled disks. Is there another command to simply label a disk, whether a
label exists or not.
