Maximum value for rlim_fd_max ?

We have a Lotus Domino integrator that wants us to set the value of
rlim_fd_max to 65536... I
have seen some documents on sunsolve that say it shouldn't be set above
1024, as some of the
Solaris 7 binaries will break. Anyone have better information? Thanks.
