Does this make sense to anyone here?

I recently relinquished the responsibility of maintaining DNS to my IT
group (which does so on
a Win2K machine)..... Part of my DNS update script would update my hosts
file and push it out
for NIS updates.... I asked my IT guys for a list of node names and
associated IPs so that I
could update my NIS hosts map. Here is his reponse:
You should be able to setup your NIS machine to get DNS updates from
XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX dynamically.
Just treat our DNS server as the next hop in the replication process.
Does this make even a little bit of sense to anyone on this list? If so,
please help me out with how I
can do what he says....
Thanks,
