SUMMARY: port spanning on switched networks

Many have suggested to put a hub in between switch and
the server and connect the monitoring server to the
hub.

Couple of suggestion are to fire the outsourced vendor
or fight the vendor for this kind of activities.

Also there is suggestion to use built in snmp and
rmon in switches. Which I would research further.
