My original Question was

Hi Gurus,

I get the following error when I use nslookup in my Solaris2.5 sytem.

xanadu2$ nslookup

*** Can't find server name for address 127.0.0.1: Unspecified error

*** Default servers are not available

xanadu2$ nslookup 199.86.17.12

*** Can't find server name for address 127.0.0.1: Unspecified error

*** Default servers are not available

Any ideas?

The problem was I didn't have /etc/resolv.conf file at all. So I created the file and added domianname and IPs of the nameservers and it is working fine now.
