Sirs/Madams:
I have a situation in Japan where I need to explain to someone (no we don't
have a term server there...yet) how to change his netmask and ip address
(hme0) so that they go into effect without rebooting.
My thoughts and what I read real quick was to tell him to:
#ifconfig hme0 unplump
#ifconfig hme0 plump
#ifconfig hme0 "new ip" netmask "new netmask"
I believe that this should work, but not sure if I should tell him to
"ifconfig hme0 down/up" at all or whether it should be done before or after
the plumbing.
The need is immediate. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Rgds,
Bill
