SUMMARY: Power Mgt disabled -- but server still shuts down
2007-12-24 19:39:00
the description of my problem, most felt that the box would have
been brought down completely (and logged). Since I only went to
the OK propmt it looked more like a terminal server shutting down,
thus bring the box to the prom...
Yep... the box is still connected to the serial port of my PC --
which I shut down at night! It's always the simple ones that get
you on a Monday morning. Must be the daylight savings time thing!
Thanks to the following for quick responses, and for pointing out
the obvious:

Subject: Power Mgt disabled -- but server still shuts down
Hello Sun Managers --
E250 with Jumpstarted Solaris 8 1/01 -- seems to "shut down" overnight...
powerd NOT running.
I built a box with the JASS (Jumpstart Architecture and Security Scripts)
toolkit using Solaris 8 1/01. The JASS does an OK job of securing the box
after the jumpstart install, mostly disabling startup scripts and updating
default config files.
Anyway, it disabled the rc script for power management
(/etc/rc2.d/S85power),
but the box still appears to shut down when idle. I come into work in the
morning to find the box at the OK prompt. The 'go' command brought it right
up and to the console login, and the uptime shows 2 days (I built it
Friday).
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Andy
