Gnome 2 Problems

All,
Installed Gnome 2 last night. Sparc 20, 240 mb, Solaris 8 with patch
cluster.
Installed OK. When I try to login in using Gnome screen goes black
with hourglass, then white, then black and back to login screen. I
can log in successfully via CDE or Open win.
I'm missing something here. Your help is appreciated.
