"NOTICE: alloc: /var: file system full" - what does it mean?
2007-12-24 21:15:00
Sometimes I get messages in syslog file like the following:
Nov 16 11:29:57 myhost unix: NOTICE: alloc: /var: file system full
Nov 16 11:29:57 myhost unix:
But /var (or other filesystems, mentioned in other messages) is NOT full in
the time of appearing of these messages.
/var is resided on UFS filesystem, encapsulated by VxFS (/dev/vx/rdsk/var).
Please tell me, what process can initiate these messages? Can I do something
to eliminate them? And, do I really need to do something, if nothing bad
really happens? :-)
Best regards, Boris.
