Where does Sendmail send its email to ?

We have Sendmail 8.9.3 on an internal mail server running Solaris 2.6. I
know that the "DH" entry in the sendmail.cf file tells Sendmail where to
send incoming email. Our "DH" entry is set to our internal Notes server.
How does Sendmail know where to send outgoing email to ? The MX record on
our internal DNS server has the name/IP of the Sendmail server so I know
that's not it. Any clues for a clueless user ? Thanks in advance for the
help !!
