Memory type for Sparc 5?

Is there a web page somewhere (does someone here know) the exact type of
memory the SPARCstation 5 uses?

I've got a ss5-170 that's gotten horridly unstable. Solaris 8, Red Hat
Linux 6.2 and SuSE Linux 7.1 and even OpenBSD 2.8 all either crash during
install (interestingly enough, the redhat installer dies with a signal 11)
or become *very* unstable if the install survives, and the machine just
*stops*. no errors, no panic, nothing in the syslog.

On another tack, is there a way to comprehensively test the memory of a
sparcstation (i.e., there's "memtest86" for intel, anything similar for
sparc?)

Many thanks,
Gregory
