memory usage on Solaris 8 (top x ps)

I'm trying to monitor memory usage on a spark Solaris 8. When I run top I
get a value of 98% of memory usage, wich is about 2940MB from 3GB of total
memory. That's hundreds of times higher then the value I get from parsing
the output of command ps and adding it up (about 100 MB).

Does anyone knows what's going on? Does solaris use the memory for caching?
If so, how can I verify the real memory usage?

Thanks,
Claudio
