Urgent I/O error

Thanks greatly for the quick responses to my question.
Most of the solutions presented to me said to use format and try to
repair the bad block or mark it as defective. A couple others said the
drive was probably dead or dying.
I used the format solution which has seemed to solve the problem (at
least temporarily). But I am planning to replace the drive as soon as
funds are made available.
