Adding NIS User Account Question

Hi sorry for wasting bandwidth on a dumb question but....

Im trying to add an NIS user (on the NIS master--there is no slave btw)

I have added the user to the passwd and shadow files and done a make
/etc/yp/passwd.

Thats not doing it.....What am I missing?
