date calculations in korn shell.

i want to give a korn shell script a date, such as 01/01/04, and have it
tell me the prior and next business date.
In the above example it would be 12/31/03 and 01/02/04
If the date is a friday, i want it to tell me the thurs before and the
monday after.
If its a monday i need the friday before the tues
does anyone have this code ?
