"unknown service" from lpd and inetd on SunOS 4.1.4 using nis

2007-12-25 9:14:00

The solution to my problem was to remove any empty lines in the master

services file.

Others suggestions were

- to check that the services was in the maps. (They were).

- NIS isn't binding and responding fast enough.

-- Put a couple of "ypwhich" commands in rc.local to jumpstart NIS

before lpd is launched in /etc/rc.

-- add a sleep period after ypbind to ensure that binding has the

     time to complete.
