ODBC Configuration in Solaris8

I'm trying to configure ODBC provided by Ardent's Data Stage Manager on
Solaris 8..The problem is that i'm unable to create a shared library with
oracle's net*8. Has anyone come across this kind of scenario.. When i tried
to connect to oracle thru ODBC , it throws up service name errror..Can
anyone help me as to configure ODBC in Solaris 8 and to test the database
connectivity.
Any documents in this regard is much helpful.
