Linux NFS server and Solaris clients

some tips and tricks? I have run into the following problem:
- user home directories are NFS served from a Linux box (RHEL 3.0) and
automounted by Solaris clients (Solaris 9)
- when a user tries to login via dtlogin, the login screen hangs after
entering the username and <return>;
logging in via another machine, we find that dtgreet is consuming
all cpu and the load is somewhere around 2.5 with nothing else running
on the machine
We could get this to work by not (!) using root_squash in the exports file
on the Linux server, but this is not an acceptable solution.
Has someone experienced this, or has any idea why it happens?
Thanks.
