Solaris distributions and Patches
2007-12-24 19:38:00
I just had a security breach on a Solaris 7 system and am about to reinstall
the OS. The system was originally setup using the first release of the Solaris
7 Server distribution kit. Recommended patches as well as many others have
been installed too. At some point, I received a Solaris 7 Server update kit
dated 8/99.
Are patches that were available up until 8/99 included in that kit?
If so, should I have problems when attempting to install patches that are
already installed because I had used the 8/99 distribution?
I believe the answer to my questions are YES and NO, but just want to make sure.
Another option is to reinstall using a Solaris 8 update release, dated 1/01.
I don't currently have any patches downloaded for Solaris 8.
Is there an easy way for me to determine what patches have come out since the
1/01 release and download only them?
Thanks,
Ernie
