problems in sendmail

I am really enjoying your articles. This is great information presented very
well.
I'm having trouble with sendmail after taking the steps in part two.
Specifically, anytime I send mail via the CLI mail program, I get these two
messages on the console:
Feb 28 21:34:31 localhost sendmail[1019]: My unqualified host name (localhost)
unknown; sleeping for retry
Feb 28 21:35:31 localhost sendmail[1019]: unable to qualify my own domain name
(localhost) -- using short name
The mail are not going through they are not coming to /var/spool/mqueue the
error messages are occurring.
please tell me what to do to remove this error
