SUMMARY: # in /etc/system instead of *

Thanks to all who replied:

General consensus was that the kernel will ignore values that it does not
understand.

Thanks

Original Question:
-----------------

Managers:
A admin last night mistakenly commented some parameters out of
the /etc/system file using a '#' instead of a '*'.

After the reboot the system is running fine but will it continue
to do so?

What does the kernel do with illegal values in /etc/system during
boot?

TIA
<mike>
