Why can't I get at least 10GB of data written to DDS4 tape using Sun DDS4 tape drive?
2007-12-25 2:37:00
I have been trying to write about 10GB (total) of data to a DDS4 tape using
a Sun DDS4 tape drive with ufsdump command. After writing 6694KB - a total
of 5 partitions I get the following error on actually the last partition
being backed up. When I put this slice first the backup fails as well; but
succeeds doing the rest. I have tried several tapes with same result.
DUMP: Estimated 5321616 blocks (2598.45MB).
DUMP: Dumping (Pass III) [directories]
DUMP: Dumping (Pass IV) [regular files]
DUMP: write: I/O error
DUMP: Write error 23028 feet into tape 1
DUMP: NEEDS ATTENTION: Do you want to restart?: ("yes" or "no") DUMP:
The ENTIRE dump is aborted.
Command:
rsh $FSHOST /usr/sbin/ufsdump 0uf $TAPEHOST:/dev/rmt/0hbn /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0s0
FSHOST and TAPEHOST are same "CatDog"
OS is Solaris 8 02/02
CatDog:/var/adm/backups/# df -kFufs
