Hi Managers!

We have received several brand new 18G 10Krpm hard drives. We have =
installed
them to Ultra 450. Everything looked okay. But, when I ran mkfs utility =
with -m parameter
I got the following output:

# mkfs -m /dev/dsk/c1t6d0s6
mkfs -F ufs -o =
nsect=3D248,ntrack=3D19,bsize=3D8192,fragsize=3D1024,cgsize=3D22,free=3D1=
,rps=3D120,
nbpi=3D8238,opt=3Dt,apc=3D0,gap=3D0,nrpos=3D8,maxcontig=3D128 =
/dev/dsk/c1t6d0s6 35349424

The lines above tell me that rmp is equal to 120*60=3D7200 (rps*60). Is =
it right? I think it is=20
not possible to change rpm from software level, it is "hard-coded" to =
the drive.=20

The drive is Seagate Cheetah 18G:
Vendor: SEAGATE
Product: ST318203LSUN18G
Revision: 034A

Shall I do newfs with rps parameter in order to achieve 10000rpm?

TIA
Mikhail V Zdorovenko
