Ultra 2 and CD-ROM

I'm trying to reinstall Solaris 8 on to an ultra 2 I have inherited.
The problem I get is that after opening the cdrom to get ready for a 'boot
cdrom' at the OK prompt the cdrom drive just constantly keeps ejecting the
cdrom.
The installation media boots ok on other sun hardware round here.
Running 'probe-scsi-all shows all drives ok including the cdrom.
The only thing that I have done since getting the box is install a graphics
card into the box. Its a turboxga card, well that's what it says on the chip.
its an sbus card.
The problem is persistent with or without the graphics card.
I have tried another cdrom from another ultra 2 but the problem is still
there.
can anyone give me any idea what to do to get this working?
