DD & OBP commands

I need the commands to speed up the boot process of my
v880 system.
I think it's
setenv diag-level min
setenv diag-switch? false
B..
Also what is the command to read files on tape other
than tar?. I tried dd if=/dev/rmt/1 of=/etc/test and I
got the error message "read:not enough space"
Any input would be appreaciated on these questions
